Strategy guide for Greelus.Humankind (Science Vessel)
1) Starting Talents: Cunning, Fitness, Discipline, Integrity, Prodigy, Swiftness, Youth, (1-3-3) (My General Tanky Caster Build)
2) Skills:
- V (Passive) - Bionavigate (Teleport to Beacon) - This is a great skill, allows for one of the best escapes in the game. Teleporting to your beacon. You can also use the beacon to charge towards someone, or in an emergency, cast it run to the edge of its range, port and then run the other way. Use this skill a lot, its energy cost is basically nothing.
- Q (Irradiate) Does good damage, but also if you autoattack after it will slow him. This is key to adding alot of extra damage to a hero when u poke them.
- W (EnergySock) Steals Opponents Energy and converts it into Sheilds (A sneaky way to try and drain your inlane opponents energy) - Generally its a weak skill.
- E (Silencer Drone) Silences enemies and deals minimal spell damage. I find this skill takes a LONG time to get to your opponent, generally I do not like the skill takes likely 2 seconds after casting until the opponent is actually silenced, this never works well. Silence drone sucks
- R (Mass Contamination) - This is a point and flick ultimate. Where you click first is where your first poison canister goes, and then the direction you move the mouse after the click, is where a line of further canisters fall. Its a really strong skill. Melts people.
The silence drones are borderline useless, get them last. The Energy soak is debatably useful. So you can either go W first or Stats first. That is the only debate I have with the talents.
Actual Order (Q W Q W Q R Q W W Y R Y Y E E R E E)
3) Item Build:
(Why Tanky?? - Q has only 10% INT stacking, and the R ultimate has a strong base damage with only 30% INT stacking. This leaves the bulk of Greelus damage as already there. He can thus be only a slightly weaker caster and Greatly improved hybrid character if build half TANK or more so ALL Tank)
1) Duran's Pendant
2) Lightning Rod (Nice bonus damage on your poke)
3) Nitrogen Retrofit
4) Argus Crystal
5) Gravity Edge
6) Death Mask
7) Ihan Crystal
8) Get Stacks on Ihan, Sell and buy Asura's Guise.
NOTES:
Can really go with any INT item you like. The only ones that give life are Nitrogen and Symph Seed, so i like those 2. Beyond that, whichever ones you like. Ancient Rune could be interesting as well.
4) Notes on gameplay:
The key to Greelus is to constantly make sure you lay down your V (beacon) so that you can warp out of bad situations. The two pronged hit of Q splash damage, plus additional damage and slow on autoattack is basically your main attacking move. The other casts of W and E are not as effective. W stealing energy and giving sheilds is nice, but I find you will mostly be focusing on Q and Ultimate. The Silence drones are basically useless, do not up them until last. The Q can be useful for clearing creeps as well as hitting enemy heroes. If you are going to use W to steal Energy which can be effective but also requires you to get close. This should only be used when your Teleport Beacon has been placed. Thus if they turn on you to attack you can instantly warp out. Try to constantly throw down the teleport beacon as a way of escaping. It's range is quite high, so allows for a great escape. Try to save your R for when a hero is weak or a team fight occurs. The damage is quite high.
With the Greelus escape, this hero can be VERY effective to not only get kills, but have a lot of assists and be low on deaths.
I rush Nitro first to stack the slow on the Q and AA move, but also for additional life early.
