Strategy guide for BioTron.Tyrannitus (Bio)
GIJoe members who excel with Bio are: Firedrake, Lysdexic, WolF and SerialNumber
As a note, there are 2 main builds to Bio: Tanky pusher or burst caster. This guide is for the former, as I think there are better characters for the latter. Bio as a burst caster is extremely vulnerable because if you get stunned/tased/pulled after you E in on the target you are pretty much dead meat, the minions hitting from your Q are also somewhat unreliable in their hit (versus say a cyprus burst stones)
1) Starting Talents: 0-2-4 Fitness, Integrity, Prodigy, Brilliance, Swiftness, Overlord;
Additional Talents Worth Getting: Transport (skip Brilliance), lets Bio get to the towers faster to counter other pushers. Another note, all of Bio's skills are a % of energy, so getting more energy (additive, not regen) doesn't help.
2) Order of Ability learning:
Talents:
Q: Civilian takedown: throws minions out in an arc doing damage for each minion that hits the target
W: Cannibalize: consumes minions to regenerate health and energy
E: Aberrated Claymore: burrows you (cloaked) and allows you to burst up at target location doing spell damage and spawning minions
R: Putrify: makes minions chase the target doing damage and slowing them
Order (E W Q W Q R Q W Q W R E E E stats R stats stats)
3) Item Builds.
Build 1: General (mostly a tanky pusher)
1) Goggles
2) Lost Treasure
3) Buckler
4) Dominion Standard (part of COA)
5) Sustainer (part of Korhal)
6) Finish Coat of Arms
7) Finish Korhal
8) Atom Smasher
9) Organic Carapace
9) Gravity Edge
Last item is situational, you can choose to skip the lost treasure to get your standard faster if you are getting good farm already and dont need both GP10's. The truly core items I feel on Bio are COA and Atom Smasher. Late game your ulti is not nearly as effective, which is why you want gravity to up the burst damage on your Q so you still do damage.
Additional Items that work with Bio: Taser, Sword Breaker, Chilling, Lions Bane, Parallax, Eternal Drive (in lieu of Korhal if someone else on your team needs Korhal, like a Rory)
Taser and Sword Breaker: disables, to prevent escape or defeat of your ulti. Also good team support items.
Chilling: team item, good armor, good slow for the minions of your ulti
Lions Bane: lots of STR and wards count as buildings for the speed boost. If you go lions bane, make sure you are placing lots of wards so you stay speedy in lane
Parallax: Debuff silences. Raynor is your enemy, if he stuns you while burrowed you will get owned. This will prevent that and many other unfortunate outcomes.
Note: Smokescreen is the biggest pain for bio and his ulti/minions. You will want a TS elixir fairly early to counter this as well as any enemy TS wards that can see you when buried. Alternatively, you can TS ward the heck out of an area if you have lions bane rather than the elixir
4) Notes on gameplay:
Early on, just focus on creeping. Between minions and your E/Q, you should be getting most of the creep and pushing the lane (so make sure to steal jungle too). Your ulti is fairly useless without at least the dominion standard but even better with the sustainer and COA to keep the minions alive and efficient.
Your Q pushes things, so use it to 1) push away enemy stunners/pullers and 2) push heroes being chased back towards your team and away from safety. Also, your Q damage scales with the number of minions that hit the target. If you are using Q for damage, you want to be as close to the enemy as possible
Your E is both an engagement and an escape, use it accordingly. The cd starts once u burrow, so you can have a burst up and a re-burrow available instantaneously if you stay burrowed for the right amount of time.
The ambush: Burrow with E and wait, it will start cd while you are burrowed. When an enemy hero shows up, E on them, then Q them (pushing them away from the direction they will run), then R them, then immediately E (burrow) again, then as they are running from your ulti E them again. You will get a minion surround, and if you have atom smasher each hit from your first E and your second Q will slow them.
I think Bio offers a lot of utility. He makes a bad primary tank versus characters like Micro, LZ, Dehaka but is always a good choice for a secondary tank/pusher to solo long lane.
