Strategy guide for Tychus.Findlay (Tychus)
1) Starting Talents: Might, Fury, Fitness, Discipline, Integrity, Swiftness, Youth. Maybe getting Cunning will be a good idea as well. Your choice what to drop instead, I would probably drop Might, Discipline or Integrity for Cunning if you want a little extra damage on your Q.
2) Order of Ability learning:
Talents:
Passive - Rip n Tear
Q (Explosion) - Explodes on target dealing spell damage
W (Healing) - Heals you and allies
E (Smoke Grenade-long range slowing) - Slowing
R (Armor) - Extra Armor and Spell armor
Actual Order (Q W Q E Q R Q E W E R W E W Y R Y Y)
3) Item Build.
Tychus is a ranged hero, who is relatively slow. He is STR based, and counts as a Bruiser type hero. This means he does alot of damage and is fairly tanky. His weakness if any is slow movement and can be ganked if out of position.
1) Hunter's Hatchet
2) Duran's Machette
3) Duran's Buckler
4) Revolver
5) Revolver --> Atom Smasher (This is your key item)-(Every spell you cast procs the atom smasher slowing and damage. This is huge.
6) Coat of Arms (Provides Wpn Speed, INT and lots of Health - Also team friendly aura
7) Pyre (Wpn Speed)
8) Force of Entropy (Life and Wpn Damage)
9) Explosive Retrofit
10) Contamination Shard (STR and Armor/Spell Armor)
I should note the machette/hatchet start made a big deal in my builds. I recently added it, and this hero is much stronger this way!
4) Notes on gameplay.
Eskimo's Notes
**Early game: Passive on Tychus is called “Rip N tear”, i.e. if you hit same target 4 times in a row with auto attack, then you press Q, the Q will explode for double spell damage and double area of effect (the animation is also substantially larger explosion so you will know). Use Q only if “Rip N tear” is active (works on heros and creeps), otherwise you are wasting the mana. This also boosts your attack speed by 40%. Use Q + lightning to farm, can easily get 4-5 creeps per wave. End game: High kills/low deaths, should be able to 1v1 most heros easily, as well as burn down towers quickly.
**Team battle: Tychus is very tanky and does high damage, so you should be able to plant yourself in the middle of your group during a team battle, click an enemy hero, and spam Q till it is dead. Q will have about a 4 second CD, and Q + rip n tear bonus will yield about 500 damage before mitigation. With the splash damage from Q + rip n tear + chain lightning from cerebro (will proc a lot because of your attack speed), you can easily get double and triple kills. W to heal as needed and E to slow them if they run. If they focus you, press R. Make sure you actually click the enemy heros when you are using AA, most squishys will die within 3 seconds
**Item build: Khala is so you can spam Q early, as your mana gets lower you will have more hp regen/mana regen for sustain. Buckler/goggles for tankiness and CDR. Once you have lightning rod you should be killing 3-4 creeps per wave (as well as doing high damage vs heros). Note: There is no isomorphic pyre in this build. Rip N tear + cerebro + coat of arms provide enough attack speed that anything past this will yield diminishing returns. (i.e., if your attack speed is 0.7, getting a pyre will only make it like 0.65, not really worth it).
Sphynx's Additional Notes:
Tychus is GREAT at harassing heroes. Use the Rip N Tear stacks that you build up on creeps to 1 shot heroes. Not for a kill but just to weaken them. This can actually damage both Heroes if they are grouped. With a partner this damage is very effective. It is also very surprising. No one ever seems to respect the damage on Tychus. He just looks like a large slow pathetic marine. Well he can be quite deadly very early game even before you item up. Take advantage of this by winning your lane by making your opponents go heal. Then you have free reign to kill every creep possible and take sorrounding neutrals.
