Strategy Guide for Jakk Summers
Jakk Summers is a support caster/dps who primarily excels at controlling the map with remote mines and mines as well as being a source of constant damage during a teamfight. Due to jakks unique abilities and nades, he has the ability to deal spell damage with attacks making him the only real dps/int caster in the game. Moreover Jakk is one of the best laners and assuming players are of equal calibre there are very few heroes that can match him in the mid lane.
Jakk can be built 2 different ways : 1) Burst caster (with a full int build and stars fury) 2) Int/ dps (my preferred option) - either one is good and neither is better than the other; it just comes down to playstyles. 3)There is also a pure dps build but it is not so common
Talents: In general I go for Might,Fury,Integrity,Fitness,Prodigy,Swfitness and Youth
In general if one is going int/dps, might and fury and integrity are musts.
If one is going pure int then defensive and support talents will be prioritized over offensive talents.
Ability order: EQEWEREQQQRWWWStatsRStats Stats
In general, field engineer and minefield especially (for farming) should be selected over wards.
Item buids:
Pure int:
There are many variations of pure int builds, but in general one should look like:
Pendant
A sustain item (e.g. lost treasure, miners goggles)
Lightning Rod
(Ihan) - optional
Gravity Edge
From here any of the following items can be chosen for int:
Nitrogen Retrofit/Argus/Yamato/Stars Fury
You may also choose to get tanky/ resist items like spell buffer, coa (which can be built from miners) or parralax (which can be built from lost treasure).
Dps int:
My preferred option. Again there are many variants, but I choose to go for this:
Pendant
Hatchet (Last hitting items can never hurt)
Lightning Rod
Lost Treasure/miners
Gravity Edge
Gauss Rifle (I used to prefer pyre, but rifle+yamato is basically a jakk on steroids and kills stuff really fast. Trust me)
TPI
And from there is reactionary. In general I build into the final item set build of:
Argus Crystal, Gravity Edge, Gauss Rifle, Yamato, Parralax and Nitrogen
Important note:With this build you are prone to being quite squishy, so occasionally I consider buying some tea extracts to bolster my defence - it doesn't sound like a lot but it actually is
What does Jakk offer?
Jakk offers the following things:
Map Control
His Spyder Mines provide vision, while Remote Mines control lanes. Combine that with the defensive and offensive pushing power of his Minefields, Jakk provides amazing Map Control.
Spell Damage
Jakks nades can be used as a source of spell damage especially vs heroes like justicar who have stacked up on armour, and not spell armour.
Sustained Damage
Because of Field Engineer and even more so if one goes for the dps hybrid, jakk becomes a sustainable source of damage in team fights.
Laning
Early Game: In general you should be focusing on creeps during this stage. Use minefields to weaken creep waves, and use Energy Rifle to last hit. Use energy rifle to harrass the opponent as well.
Mid Game: Focus on mining different locations - some good locations include - In the middle of mid lane - In bushes at bot and top lanes - (Albeit difficult to setup - at their thor camp ramp between the mid t1 and t2 towers). Not only focus on creeps, but you'll be a source of offensive and defensive pushing power on towers. Don't play too aggressive unless your ultra fed, else you will die if you get isolated and caught out of position. Your energy rifle can also be used to stun lock a team in place in a teamfight - very important - one way to net easy kills.
End Game: Mines and minefields won't be too useful in teamfights, but in general stick with the team and focus an individual hero down where possible, because at this point you can shred anyone especially if you went the dps hybrid. When defending t3s, mines are very good at defending them. If the enemy gets TS try and preemptively blow the mines up as they head up the ramp ( they won't see the mines go off as they won't have high ground vision)
A note on mining locations
-Stack them in one concentrated spot so the damage is concentrated.
-Lure enemies into mines, especially bush ones.
-Aim to select mines manually for detenation, and not just press v as that detonates all your mines on the map.
